Week 13: GREEK WEEK!!!

   

    Greek Week. The most exhausting but fun week on campus especially for the members of Greek Life. Greek Week takes place every year on Ohio Northern's campus. It is a whole week of sports and activities for each sorority and fraternity to compete for their respective trophies and become that year's Greek life champions.  






This year's schedule includes: 

Monday: Greek Sing 

What is Greek Sing?

Greek Sing is where each fraternity and sorority has to complete a ten-minute performance with dances and lyric changes to fit ONU and Greek life. 

Placed: 4th


Tuesday: No Events :(   (Honors Day)


Wednesday: Pandora's Box 

What is Pandora's Box?

Pandora's box could literally mean any event the Greek Week co-chairs can pretty much think of. Last year it was a game of Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader. In years past one Pandora's box event was to see who could build the highest tower out of marshmallows and uncooked spaghetti noodles. One year some of the seniors told me they were convinced that the event was playing Mario Kart so they practiced playing for hours.

Friday: Volleyball

Saturday: Greek Olympics!!!

Dodgeball

Placed: 2nd 


Cardboard Canoe

Placed: 4th


Mud Tug

Placed: 1st


Banner Contest

Placed: Tied for 1st

    After missing all week due to being stuck in the hospital I was able to make it back Friday evening so that I could make it to the Greek Olympics the next day. Although Theta put up a tough fight to win this year Zeta won again. I personally just think no matter who wins the whole week is fun and I was so thankful to be here on Saturday. Congrats to everyone in Greek Life for having such an awesome Greek Week especially our Co-Chairs Megan Bley and Justin Hall. Plus every chapter's awesome delegates for all their hard work.

    When you say that Greek Week is exhausting and a lot, you aren't lying! As a freshman, I didn't know what to expect, but after experiencing it for the first time, your description is very accurate. I am so glad you were able to make it to the last few events!!!

    I am also sad I had to miss the majority of Greek Week! Hopefully next year we both can be more involved. I definitely didn't expect all the chapters to go all out, but I was mistaken. I had a lot of fun watching some of the Greek Olympics and I am so proud of our entire chapter!

    Greek Week does seem quite exhausting, but I don't have the experience of it sadly. Next year I will probably be joining a fraternity so I'll get the experience all of the fun! Not looking forward to the stress that comes with it though haha.

Week 14: Wrapping Things Up...or So I Thought

     As the semester starts to end like anyone else, I'm looking forward to the summer. I know that it'll be nice to have a break from academics and to work for some money to use the following school year.       Everything has mostly been fine since I got back last Friday. As mentioned I was able to make it to the Greek Olympics. But then my nurse and doctor called me the following Thursday saying some of my typical bloodwork results were not looking so good. So alas I packed up and left Ada again. Thankfully this time I didn't have to be admitted through the emergency department and was able to have my doctors directly admit me which relieved some stress.       Pretty much as soon as I got to the floor they started taking a lot of my blood to run various tests. I also have been attached to fluids to make sure I'm hydrated but walking around with an IV pole is harder than you would think. I have also been taking many additional medications to rule out some issues.

Week 2: Thinking Theta

     Once again it is another dreary week here at Ohio Northern but that's not stopping me from having a great week. If there is one thing about me I love being busy and this week is definitely that. I have several things to do this week. Starting out the week on Sunday with several hours of various assignments for the development of Kappa Alpha Theta. I really LOVE having a position in my sorority. It really has not only gotten me more involved but also helped me to better the chapter. I currently hold the position of the VP of DEI. It turns out that I like it more than I originally thought I would when I was applying to hold an executive position.     Having this position means so much to me as I worked very hard my first year to be able to have the opportunity to hold a position. Week 5: Ruby at Northern Recap

     Over this past weekend, my sister drove up to Northern and we had a BLAST! She happened to have a long weekend for Presidents Day so I asked her to come visit me.       As she starts to now look at colleges as a junior in High School I wanted to show her what an average weekend in college looks like for me.       She drove up early Friday afternoon due to the snow starting. Once she got here we first unloaded her car because I had her bring me some groceries from home. Once we did that we moved her car to the visitor lot and got an early dinner at WOW because again I wanted Ruby to really get the collage feel.  We pretty much just hung out around my room and the Theta house over the weekend especially since it was FREEZING and snowing. She of course ended up getting the worst weather of the season while being here. The weather definitely gave her that Northern feel and I think gave her some insight into the college reality.
