Week 5: My Taylor Swift Year!

Image
I turned 22 this past Tuesday! Something you may not know about me is that I'm a big birthday person. I love my birthday, celebrating other people's birthdays, and giving birthday gifts. Basically, birthdays are my jam. I just love it all. Well, anyway, as mentioned in the title of this week's post, it's “My Taylor Swift Year,” meaning in pop culture, fans of Taylor Swift and others have basically coined the term based on her song called “22,” and wouldn't ...

Week 1: Welcome Back To School (Senior Year Edition)

Image
Welcome back to All In With Althea! I honestly missed being able to update this blog; it's like a visual diary, and I love being able to share my life in this way!  My first week back has been hectic to say the least!  I started out by moving in last Tuesday for Klondike's Crew to help move in the new freshmen here at ONU. After that, I immediately got sick with a fever that night (thanks, chronic illness), but that's nothing I couldn't handle, even though it did still suck. I then just rested up and was back to “better” by Friday. Then, throughout the rest of the week, I was able to adjust back to campus life and get on a consistent schedule. I then had a very busy Sunday. I first went to the Welcome Fest, where all the campus organizations and clubs attend to recruit new members, and I helped out at the Art Club for my friend, since we are working on reviving the club. Later Sunday night, we as a Greek community at Ohio Northern came together to hold Greekpalooza, wh...

Week 15: Now Wrapping Things Up

Image
With the year coming to an end I've been slammed as everyone is this time of the year. I don't think I'll have any time to rest until we get out for the summer. But it's time to start a much-needed summer break. I have such a BUSY but fun summer planned ahead.       Right when I get back I have to start work to make some much-needed money but that'll be boring. After that a few days later I will be attending the 2024 CAPA Marquee Awards. The CAPA Marquee Awards are for high schoolers all over central Ohio to receive recognition for their school's musical of that year. Why will I be attending this? Easy. My sister is nominated for an award from the Marquees plus I've gone the last two years and had a blast with all my theater friends.        Ruby is nominated for the Backstage Excellence category for being the production manager of the musical Anything Goes. I am so proud of her knowing the countless hours she worked on the set....

Week 13: GREEK WEEK!!!

Image
Greek Week. The most exhausting but fun week on campus especially for the members of Greek Life. Greek Week takes place every year on Ohio Northern's campus. It is a whole week of sports and activities for each sorority and fraternity to compete for their respective trophies and become that year's Greek life champions.   This year's schedule includes:  Monday: Greek Sing  What is Greek Sing? Greek Sing is where each fraternity and sorority has to complete a ten-minute performance with dances and lyric changes to fit ONU and Greek life.  Placed: 4th Tuesday: No Events :(   (Honors Day) Wednesday: Pandora's Box  What is Pandora's Box? Pandora's box could literally mean any event the Greek Week co-chairs can pretty much think of. Last year it was a game of Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader. In years past one Pandora's box event was to see who could build the highest tower out of marshmallows and uncooked spaghetti ...

Chapter #9: LinkedIn is Key

Image
Chapter #9: Linkedin       I had never used LinkedIn until last week when I set up an account, after attending the Woman in Buinessness conference in Columbus last Wednesday put on by Ohio Northern's chapter of PRSSA.  I knew that I finally had to make an account after meeting with several professionals and soon hoping to get an Internship.      LinkedIn is the most used professional social media platform. It ranks in the top 20 at 18th most used social media  I really enjoyed this chapter because I got to learn about LinkedIn which I knew the least about out of several social media platforms we've learned about so far.       Numbers only a slightly higher amount of men are on LinkedIn compared to women with a percentage of 57% to 43% and the largest age group using LinkedIn is in the 25-34 range. Something about LinkedIn I never thought of would be what other countries use it and how much compared to the United States. ...

Week 8: Spring Break Recap

Image
Spring Break is a nice time for everyone to relax... well not really for me.    The week leading into break I made a to-do list.  I came into spring break with a plan of everything I needed to do while I was at home before I got back to school.       Friday night consisted of going back to my High School, Olentangy Liberty to finally see their spring musical my sister, Ruby was the head production manager. Already having a love for Theater when Ruby told me that they were doing an older musical called Anything Goes we both had never heard of it. I headed into the show I totally expected to not like it because of the plot and length of the show (3 hours). But it was actually one of the best productions I think that the school had ever done. It was entertaining from fun songs and dancing to the witty lines. Plus Ruby worked so hard turning the stage into a three-level cruise ship.       A benefit to visiting...
