Chapter #7:

    Snapchat is widely known especially among Generation Z. It is rare if someone around my age doesn't use Snapchat. Snapchat is a photo messaging app where you can send photos back and forth with friends and family or post them to your story for your followers to see what you may be up to. In the graph shown in the book, it shows that from the 1st quarter of 2024 to the 1st quarter of 2022 the number of active daily users has had a steady increase each quarter of the year.

    Within the statistics of Snapchat, the most used age is what I expected which ranges from 18 to 24. But the users of men and women are almost the same which is rare for almost the same amount which is 51% of females to 49% of males. When looking at the other stats I was surprised to see the amount of users in each country and how India surpasses the United States. I also found that on Advererage the typical Snapchat user only spends about 21 minutes a day on Snapchat an average of 3.2 hours. To me that is crazy that's what the stat is because I thought it would've been way more time. However, that could surprise me for a few reasons. I think it is because I know people who spend hours upon hours using Snapchat, or maybe it is because I am in that demographic or I was blindsided because I know I only spend slightly more time on Snapchat than the average. 

    There are many fun features on Snapchat for users. First off what most people might already know about Snapchat is the fun filters from the dog filter to location filters/tags there are simple lighting filters and anything else you can pretty much think of. Another feature of Snapchat is group chats and normal chat features that are basically like texting. The last feature I'm going to mention is bitmoji which is simply creating a 3D digital version of yourself. This is essentially for your profile picture and chat contact. 

    There is so much to learn about Snapchat's algorithms and advertising/marketing strategies. I encourage you to explore your favorite social media and learn.

Week 14: Wrapping Things Up...or So I Thought

     As the semester starts to end like anyone else, I'm looking forward to the summer. I know that it'll be nice to have a break from academics and to work for some money to use the following school year.       Everything has mostly been fine since I got back last Friday. As mentioned I was able to make it to the Greek Olympics. But then my nurse and doctor called me the following Thursday saying some of my typical bloodwork results were not looking so good. So alas I packed up and left Ada again. Thankfully this time I didn't have to be admitted through the emergency department and was able to have my doctors directly admit me which relieved some stress.       Pretty much as soon as I got to the floor they started taking a lot of my blood to run various tests. I also have been attached to fluids to make sure I'm hydrated but walking around with an IV pole is harder than you would think. I have also been taking many additional medications to rule out some issues.

Week 2: Thinking Theta

     Once again it is another dreary week here at Ohio Northern but that's not stopping me from having a great week. If there is one thing about me I love being busy and this week is definitely that. I have several things to do this week. Starting out the week on Sunday with several hours of various assignments for the development of Kappa Alpha Theta. I really LOVE having a position in my sorority. It really has not only gotten me more involved but also helped me to better the chapter. I currently hold the position of the VP of DEI. It turns out that I like it more than I originally thought I would when I was applying to hold an executive position.     Having this position means so much to me as I worked very hard my first year to be able to have the opportunity to hold a position. Week 5: Ruby at Northern Recap

     Over this past weekend, my sister drove up to Northern and we had a BLAST! She happened to have a long weekend for Presidents Day so I asked her to come visit me.       As she starts to now look at colleges as a junior in High School I wanted to show her what an average weekend in college looks like for me.       She drove up early Friday afternoon due to the snow starting. Once she got here we first unloaded her car because I had her bring me some groceries from home. Once we did that we moved her car to the visitor lot and got an early dinner at WOW because again I wanted Ruby to really get the collage feel.  We pretty much just hung out around my room and the Theta house over the weekend especially since it was FREEZING and snowing. She of course ended up getting the worst weather of the season while being here. The weather definitely gave her that Northern feel and I think gave her some insight into the college reality.
