Week 9: Ready for Summer!!

Image
I am sure you are all feeling that past midway semester slump. With the semester so close but so far at the same time I know that I am ready for summer. I have been trying to stay focused and motivated this week but I've been finding it extra difficult.     Starting out this week on Sunday I had my day FULL of stuff for Theta. I started the day by waking around 8:30 am (which was harder than it should've been because my friends and I stayed up until 1:00 am watching the Hungar Games) to help my friend Lydia with cooking bacon and sausage links for about 100 people for a late St. Patricks Day panhellenic brunch with all four sororities. My Big and G-Big Madi and Gwen brought us Starbucks and we all got to work while listening to Taylor Swift's 1989 album of course.     It took us three hours to cook all the food we were in charge of for the brunch but we did have it ready just in time. Seeing all four sororities come together for this event was super fun. There are only

Ohio Northern's Social Media Workshop!!!

Image
This past week, I attended Ohio Northern University's 6th annual Social Media Workshop which was held and organized by ONU'S PRSSA group. It was such a cool event to experience especially as a newer student in the business college world. Since I only just picked up my business minors, I was super excited to attend this event for so many reasons. First off I was excited to dress up and get a feel for what it was like to look like a professional since I haven't had that opportunity yet. I also enjoyed getting to take a break from my regular scheduled day with typical classes on Friday. It was also nice to be able to walk around and choose your own schedule/session depending on what you wanted to hear or learn about.     Out of the four-session blocks where you could choose from speakers in both the Bearcave and the Activities room I stayed in the Bearcave for 3 out of 4 sessions. After the keynote in the ballroom where we all learned about the benefits and cool ways to le

Chapter #7: Silly Snapchat

Image
Chapter #7:      Snapchat is widely known especially among Generation Z. It is rare if someone around my age doesn't use Snapchat. Snapchat is a photo messaging app where you can send photos back and forth with friends and family or post them to your story for your followers to see what you may be up to. In the graph shown in the book, it shows that from the 1st quarter of 2024 to the 1st quarter of 2022 the number of active daily users has had a steady increase each quarter of the year.     Within the statistics of Snapchat, the most used age is what I expected which ranges from 18 to 24. But the users of men and women are almost the same which is rare for almost the same amount which is 51% of females to 49% of males. When looking at the other stats I was surprised to see the amount of users in each country and how India surpasses the United States. I also found that on Advererage the typical Snapchat user only spends about 21 minutes a day on Snapchat an average of 3.2 hours. To

Week 8: Spring Break Recap

Image
Spring Break is a nice time for everyone to relax... well not really for me.    The week leading into break I made a to-do list.  I came into spring break with a plan of everything I needed to do while I was at home before I got back to school.       Friday night consisted of going back to my High School, Olentangy Liberty to finally see their spring musical my sister, Ruby was the head production manager. Already having a love for Theater when Ruby told me that they were doing an older musical called Anything Goes we both had never heard of it. I headed into the show I totally expected to not like it because of the plot and length of the show (3 hours). But it was actually one of the best productions I think that the school had ever done. It was entertaining from fun songs and dancing to the witty lines. Plus Ruby worked so hard turning the stage into a three-level cruise ship.       A benefit to visiting home is homemade food and going to restaurants that I miss and crave whil

Chapter #6: Twitter... I mean X

Image
Chapter #6:     X is more commonly known as its former name Twitter whereas X was created by Elon Musk after he bought Twitter back in July of 2023. I know that it is popular but I haven't even opened the app since I was told to download it in my high school journalism class.      X allows users to share a post with less than 280 characters and images if they choose to do so. Today X has over 368 million monthly users that send over 6,000 posts every second. X's original purpose was for friends to communicate. Now it is a worldwide social networking site. People go to X now for daily news, sports, and politics.       Marketing with X is key. It allows the brand or company to have a voice and gives them the opportunity to engage with customers and followers more easily compared to other platforms.       I nfluencers are a major part of marketing in 2024. Even on X, they use influencers for marketing and advertising.     There are many ways to advertise and get engagement on X. T

Week 7: Finding my Voice

Image
Ever since coming to Northern I have changed and grown so much in these past two years. In high school, it was very similar to here at ONU. I didn't get involved my freshman year my mom and intervention specialist had to beg me to join Theater. I honestly don't know why I was stubborn about it because I loved middle school theater but it made me who I am and wouldn't change joining. The theater kids quickly became my second family because I spent hours on end with these people. I went on adventures with this group of people. I honestly spent more time with my theater family than with my mom, dad, and sister Ruby. That being said while I loved this group of people and I grew so many ways with them it was good for me to get out and come to ONU where I knew nobody. This all leads to now where yes I miss it sometimes but I know my time has passed.     Being in theater I never was in a leadership role even as a senior it made me sad because I felt like there was favoritism
