Week 12: Getting In The Holiday Spirit!!
Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing well and staying warm in this snowy weather.
This weather has definitely got me in the holiday spirit. With the snow on the ground I am so ready to go home and decorate my room for Christmas, bake cookies, build gingerbread houses and watch holiday movies. Another thing I love about this time of the year is the holiday menu at Starbucks. I personally could drink an Iced Cookie Latte with Oatmilk all year but it being a limited holiday drink makes it more exciting and special. I know that Thanksgiving has yet to happen so maybe I should slow down on my excitement for the holidays but I wanted to talk about some of my favorite holiday memories.
My sister Ruby and I are typically the only young people around on Thanksgiving due to the fact of my cousins living in New Jersey and my dads sister doesn’t have kids so that means Ruby and I are usually bored out of our minds. So we've created a tradition these past few years of eating Thanksgiving dinner with everyone and then dipping to go see a movie. I personally love it because first off nobody is even there so we get to have the whole theater to ourselves and we can talk during the movie.
Another favorite holiday tradition of mine is on Christmas Eve where we get to open one gift (which is always the same) a pair of Christmas Pjs. I have always loved this tradition because it's something small and simple but is always fun for me to get a new pair of Pjs.
The last holiday tradition I’m going to talk about is another one that I have done ever since I was little. That is baking Christmas cookies with my mom, grandma and Ruby. We take one long day and bake all sorts of Christmas cookies from cut out sugar cookies, peanut butter blossoms, oatmeal chocolate chips and more. It is one of my favorite days around the holidays. It is such a nostalgic feeling to bake with my family and listen to Christmas music.
Well, that is all I have for this week and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day or night.
